Swayze slams reports on his 'near death'

Swayze slams reports on his 'near death'

Patrick Swayze is angry about tabloid reports that say he doesn't have long to live.

The actor, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, issued a statement on Tuesday saying that so far he is winning his fight against the disease and responding well to treatment.

Says Swayze: "They're reporting that I'm on my last legs and saying goodbye to my tearful family! ... It's upsetting that the shoddy and reckless reporting from these publications cast a negative shadow on the positive and good fight I'm fighting."

Swayze, who stars in the upcoming A&E series The Beast, says such coverage is tantamount to "emotional cruelty," and angers him "when hope is so precious."

Stop buying all the gossip magazines, all lies anyway and waste of paper! Then the famous people in this world would have some privacy.

What if it were one of the persons family who did this aweful report, who had cancer! Would they be so happy reading things which were so hurtful about one of their family members. Have some respect!

The media have a bad reputation for blowing everything out of proportion. Why don't they just leave people alone!!! You are a very brave man, talented actor and a wonderful person. GOOD LUCK.

I think that as part of a legacy to journalism the truth should only be allowed . . As for Patrick God bless him and may this experience make him stronger.

Its ironicale that the Tabloids have the power to make you or break you, diminish your will to live, invade your privacy or in this case rip away your dignity for their own gain.

Whatever organ, if you get the cancer - it will kill you. The media though are an insidious cancer themselves. They killed Dianna by invasion just like cancer is now invading Patrick. He has enough to deal with, so media -leave him alone.

Journo's are such idiots. I hope the bastards that wrote the Swayze story go through a similar trauma. They deserve it.

i think the media who report false articles for money are perthetic basically. They just dont care who they hurt in doing so. Patrick has always been a favorite of mine and will be back to almost perfect in the future

I'm disgusted at how the Fake Publicity has basically slammed him as almost a lost cause where in fact he is far from that and a PURE FIGHTER.

I agree with you all about having hope in times of desperation and I too love Patrick but unfortunately the reality is the man is dying of a cruel disease. When the time goes may he go peacefully knowing he was loved by many.

We all blame the media, but if people did not buy the publications that are caught out lying then they can't make any money from their lies. I do hope that Patrick does win his battle.

i lost my father to cancer & hope was a major part of his final transition. It doesnt help much that im also a gigantic swayze fan, so just let the man live his life in peace without having to deal with negativity

Unfortunately, public figures have to contend with media speculation. I guess accuracy in reporting stands for nothing these days, and the best we can hope for is that the people who write these stories will find a conscience.

A spokesperson for Patrick could have provided truthful updates about his progress. To make up such a distressing story is unforgivable. I wish Patrick a complete recovery.

The media has, and always has had a lot to answer for. They know sensationalism will always sell a story. In most media outlets the feelings of people don't rate a thought.

My Godfather just recently past away from Pancreatic cancer and all I can say without hope and without the best medical attention it is a painful death. The newspaper mogals don't care about people just the bottom line and the $$$$.

"Where there's life there's hope", my mum lived by those words right to the end of her battle with cancer, how dare the media take what little some people have left to hang on to.

It just goes to show that the media has no soul and that they should be held accountable. My god is it so hard to offer support to people, what is this world coming too.

My father has cancer and I agree with Patrick hope is essential and the way these reporters/editors focus on negatives and lie to get head lines is horrendous and should carry heavy penalties.
