Perez Hilton praises 'Summer Heights High'
Aussie mockumentary series Summer Heights High's prospects of global success have been boosted after getting the seal of approval from powerful celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.
The ABC announced this week that comedian Chris Lilley's creation had been added to American pay TV station HBO's comedy line-up for 2008 and would also air on BBC 3 in the UK.
Now Hilton has given the series a rave review on his website, calling it brilliant, and one of his "favourite shows on the planet".
The show is a parody of high school life and is based on three characters - drama teacher Mr G, snobby and self absorbed teenager Ja'mie King and rebellious student Jonah Takalua.
The post, which is titled "Best news of the week!" and includes a photo of Lilley as Ja'mie, has received more than 130 comments since it was posted earlier on Friday.
Hilton's website has been named one of the most powerful and widely read blog sites in the world, and has been credited with helping the careers of artists he likes, such as Mika, Lily Allen and Robyn.
