Kylie, Coldplay release song for AIDS

Aussie pop star Kylie Minogue and UK supergroup Coldplay have been making music together for a new online magazine which supports HIV/AIDS projects in Africa.

Coldplay and Minogue have released a track called Lhuna for (RED)WIRE, a new musical venture from U2 frontman Bono's organisation (RED).

The song was recorded in May, while Coldplay were making their latest album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends.

Minogue and Coldplay singer Chris Martin share vocals on the sultry track, which Martin deemed "too sexy" to be included on the band's latest album.

It was released to coincide with World Aids Day on December 1 alongside recordings by Jay-Z, The Dixie Chicks, The Police and Elvis Costello and Sheryl Crow.

U2 have recorded a cover of Greg Lake's I Believe in Father Christmas, while The Killers, Elton John and Neil Tennant join forces on the Christmas song Joseph.

To celebrate the launch, all the tracks can be listened to for free on www.red.msn.com.

A portion of the profits is to be invested in African AIDS programs, focusing on women and children. Since its launch in 2006 (RED), has raised more than $US120 million ($A187.66 million).
